Dinner with Actor Jocko Sims (NBC's New Amsterdam)
Last night, The chic Atlanta steakhouse STK played host to a private press dinner in honor of the co star of NBC's newest medical drama "New Amsterdam".
Guests enjoyed a strolling plethora of hors d'oeuvres, mini burgers and delicious desserts with unlimited wine. After networking and enjoying the food, Jocko Sims, who plays Dr. Floyd Reynolds on the show, sat with us members of the press and answered just about anything we threw his way :)
He was a delight to chat with and we learned a lot about his upbringing in Texas, his love for acting and how he ironically planned to become a doctor in real life but now plays one on TV
When I asked him what makes New Amsterdam different from all of the other medical prime time dramas out there he said
"This is based on a true story! This show is based on a book by Dr. Eric Manheimer (Twelve patients) , the medical director at Bellevue Hospital in New York. Bellevue is the first public hospital in America and there is so much history there."
After only a few episodes, solid ratings and knowing the backstory of the show, I believe New Amsterdam is off to a great start and will do very well against its competition! Congrats to the entire cast and crew and a special thank you to Jocko
New Amsterdam airs Tuesdays at 10pm
